Possible Causes

Heating element shorted to earth, Damaged insulation on element wiring, Moisture inside elements or wiring, Faulty mains filter (EMI suppressor) leaking to earth

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the consumer unit and verify the oven is de-energised before touching any wiring.

  • Visual inspection:
    • Remove the rear panel and inspect all heating elements and wiring for signs of arcing, burn marks, or melted insulation.
    • Check where wires pass through metal panels for chafing.
  • Insulation test (if equipment available):
    • Use an insulation tester (megger) between each element terminal and earth.
    • A low resistance reading indicates leakage; replace the affected element.
  • Check mains filter:
    • Locate the mains interference filter (usually near the power entry point).
    • Inspect for bulging, cracking, or burning.
    • If suspect, replace the mains filter with a Hoover-approved part.
  • Drying moisture:
    • If the oven has recently been steam-cleaned or exposed to heavy moisture, leave it disconnected and door open for 24–48 hours to dry.
    • Retest; if the fault persists, replace the leaking component.
  • Final test: After replacing any suspect parts, reassemble, restore power, and test each function individually to confirm the breaker no longer trips and E09 is cleared.
