Possible Causes
Stuck touch key on control panel, Faulty user interface PCB, Software glitch in control board, Contamination (grease/steam) on touch sensors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you need to remove the control panel, disconnect the oven from mains power first.
- Attempt manual unlock:
- Refer to the Hoover user manual for the specific key combination to toggle the child lock (often holding a specific key for several seconds).
- Try this several times; if E17 remains, continue.
- Clean the control panel:
- Wipe the glass or plastic fascia with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove grease and residue.
- Dry thoroughly and test again.
- Power reset:
- Turn off power at the mains for 10–15 minutes to reset the control electronics.
- Restore power and test the lock function.
- Inspect UI PCB:
- If the problem persists, remove the control fascia and inspect the user interface PCB for damage or corrosion.
- Replace the UI PCB if any keys are permanently active or the board is damaged.
- If UI replacement does not help: The main control board firmware may be corrupted; replacement by a technician is recommended.
