Oven fan runs but temperature does not rise properly or oven overheats; error F02 appears on display.

Safety first: Isolate the oven from the mains supply before removing any panels.

Step-by-step checks:

• 1. Locate the temperature sensor: Inside the oven cavity, find the small metal probe usually at the rear or top. From the back of the oven, trace its wiring to the control board.
• 2. Inspect wiring and connector: Check for burnt, cut, or pinched wires. Ensure the plug is firmly seated on the control board and that pins are not corroded.
• 3. Measure sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor plug. Using a multimeter on ohms, measure across the two sensor terminals. Typical NTC sensors are around 500–1100 Ω at room temperature (exact value depends on model). An infinite reading indicates open circuit; near 0 Ω indicates a short.
• 4. Check resistance change with heat: Warm the sensor tip gently with a hair dryer while watching the meter. The resistance should change smoothly. If it does not change or jumps erratically, the sensor is faulty.
• 5. Replace the sensor if defective: Remove the mounting screw(s) inside the cavity, pull the sensor out, transfer the wiring, and fit a genuine Hotpoint-Ariston oven temperature sensor (NTC probe). Route the cable away from hot or sharp edges.
• 6. Clear the error: Restore power and test a heating cycle. The F02 code should clear automatically if the fault is resolved.
