Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Allow the oven to cool completely before working near elements.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Visual inspection of grill element: Look inside the oven at the top element. Check for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks on the element sheath.
- 2. Access rear terminals: Remove the rear panel to access the grill element terminals. Inspect for burnt spade connectors or discoloured insulation. Replace any overheated connectors and trim back damaged wire.
- 3. Test element continuity: Disconnect both wires from the grill element. Measure resistance across the element with a multimeter. A typical reading is 15–40 Ω. Infinite resistance means the element is open and must be replaced.
- 4. Check supply from control board: With the oven reassembled enough for safe testing and power restored (qualified persons only), select a grill function and measure for mains voltage at the element terminals. If no voltage is present while the relay should be active, suspect a faulty relay or control board.
- 5. Replace faulty parts: If the element is open, install a genuine Hotpoint-Ariston grill / upper heating element. If the board is not sending power despite correct commands, replace the main control board.
Note: Always ensure new elements are firmly secured and that wires are correctly insulated and routed away from sharp edges.
