Possible Causes
Seized convection fan motor, Open fan motor winding, Obstruction preventing fan rotation, Faulty fan relay or wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power. Sharp metal edges are present; wear cut-resistant gloves.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Access the fan: Remove oven shelves and the rear internal panel to expose the circular fan and element.
- 2. Check for obstruction: Try to spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely. Remove any food debris, screws, or warped panels that may be rubbing on the blade.
- 3. Inspect motor from rear: Remove the rear outer panel to access the fan motor. Check for signs of overheating or melted insulation.
- 4. Test motor winding: Disconnect the motor wires and measure resistance across the motor terminals. A very high or infinite reading indicates an open winding; near 0 Ω suggests a short.
- 5. Check supply to motor: If the motor tests OK, restore power (qualified persons only), select a fan-assisted mode, and measure for mains voltage at the motor terminals. If no voltage is present, suspect a faulty relay or control board.
- 6. Replace faulty parts: If the motor is seized or open, install a genuine Hotpoint-Ariston convection fan motor. If the board is not energizing the motor, replace the main control board.
