Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from the mains supply by switching off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse. Verify power is off with a suitable tester before removing any panels.
- Check wall supply: Confirm the cooker outlet or terminal block has correct voltage using a multimeter. If no power, the issue may be with the house wiring or breaker.
- Inspect terminal block: Remove the rear cover and inspect the mains terminal block for burnt connections or melted plastic. Tighten loose screws and replace the terminal block if damaged.
- Access main PCB: Remove the top/rear cover to access the main control board (often located behind the display). Look for burnt components, blown tracks, or a small onboard fuse.
- Check wiring harness: Ensure all connectors to the main PCB are fully seated and not heat-damaged. Reseat each plug one at a time.
- Test board fuse (if fitted): With the oven unplugged, test continuity of any PCB-mounted fuse. If open, replace with the exact type and rating. If it blows again, the board or another component is shorted.
- Replace main PCB if faulty: If there is visible damage or no low-voltage output from the board, replace the main control board with the correct Hotpoint part number for your model.
If you are not experienced with live mains diagnostics, contact a qualified appliance technician.
