Possible Causes
Faulty touch control panel, Damaged ribbon cable between UI and main PCB, Oxidised keypad connector, Failed UI microcontroller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate the oven from mains before removing the control panel or fascia.
- Access control panel: Remove the front control panel screws (often behind the door trim) and gently pull the panel forward.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon cable between the display/keypad and the main PCB. Check for kinks, burns, or cracks. Reseat both ends carefully.
- Clean connectors: Use electronic contact cleaner on the ribbon connectors and allow to dry fully before reassembly.
- Check for moisture/grease: Look for signs of liquid ingress or heavy grease around the keypad. If the touch membrane is contaminated or bubbled, replace the entire user interface panel.
- Replace UI assembly: If specific keys never respond or the error persists after reseating, fit a new Hotpoint control fascia/touchpad assembly compatible with your model.
