Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock mechanism, Faulty lock position microswitch, Broken wiring to lock assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power. Do not force the door; you may bend hinges or damage the glass.
- Access lock assembly: On many Hotpoint pyrolytic ovens, the lock is located at the top front, accessible by removing the top cover or control panel.
- Inspect mechanism: Check for bent linkages, broken plastic parts, or obstructions preventing the lock bolt from moving.
- Test lock motor: Disconnect the lock motor and measure its resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Check microswitches: Identify the lock position switches and test for continuity in locked and unlocked positions. Replace if they do not change state.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the lock to the main PCB for breaks, especially where it passes near hot areas.
- Replace lock assembly: If the motor or switches are faulty, replace the complete Hotpoint door lock assembly and test a clean cycle.
