Possible Causes

Seized convection fan motor, Worn motor bearings, Open-circuit fan motor winding, Faulty fan supply from PCB or selector switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Isolate power and allow the oven to cool. The fan blades can be sharp.

  • Access fan: Remove the rear inner panel of the oven cavity to expose the convection fan and blades.
  • Check for free movement: Spin the fan by hand. If stiff, noisy, or seized, the motor must be replaced.
  • Test motor winding: From the rear of the oven, access the motor terminals. Disconnect and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • Inspect wiring and selector: On knob-controlled models, verify that the function selector sends power to the fan in fan modes. Replace the selector switch if contacts are faulty.
  • Replace fan motor: Remove the fan blade retaining nut, pull off the blade, and unbolt the motor from the rear. Fit a new Hotpoint convection fan motor and refit the blade securely.
