Oven door will not close fully, heat escapes, poor cooking performance

Safety: Ensure the oven is cool before working on the door. The glass panels are fragile.

• Inspect hinges: Open the door and check for excessive play or sagging. Look for cracks or bending in the hinge arms.
• Check hinge receivers: On built-in models, the hinge sockets in the oven frame can wear or loosen. Tighten mounting screws.
• Replace hinges: Remove the door (usually by opening to the broil position and lifting off). Replace both hinges with genuine Hotpoint parts to maintain alignment.
• Inspect and replace seal: If the seal is flattened or torn, pull it out of its retaining clips and fit a new door gasket.
