Possible Causes

Open safety thermostat, Failed main oven element, Faulty function selector switch, Faulty main control board heater output

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Isolate the oven from mains before testing components.

  • Check simple items first: Confirm the clock is set; many Hotpoint ovens will not heat if the time is not programmed.
  • Test safety thermostat: Locate and test the thermal cut-out for continuity (see F10). Reset or replace if open.
  • Test elements: Measure continuity of the bake, grill, and fan elements. Replace any open-circuit elements.
  • Check selector switch: On mechanical models, verify that the selector sends power to the elements in each mode. Replace if contacts are faulty.
  • Control board: If all field components are good, the main PCB may not be switching power to the heaters and will need replacement.
