Possible Causes
Heavy grease buildup on cavity surfaces, Spilled food on heating elements, Dirty drip trays or fan cover, Incorrect cookware causing spillage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If smoke is heavy, turn off the oven and ventilate the room. Avoid opening the door fully if flames are present; keep it closed and turn off power.
- Inspect interior: Once cool, remove racks and check for burnt-on food, especially on the bottom and near elements.
- Clean thoroughly: Use a non-caustic oven cleaner or baking soda paste to clean the cavity, racks, and fan cover. Avoid spraying directly on elements or sensors.
- Check elements: Wipe elements gently with a damp cloth when cool to remove residue; do not use abrasive pads.
- Test with empty burn-off: After cleaning, run the oven at 200–220°C for 20–30 minutes to burn off remaining residues, with good ventilation.
Note: Persistent smoke after cleaning may indicate a failing element or insulation contamination, which requires professional inspection.
