Possible Causes

Open-circuit NTC temperature probe, shorted NTC temperature probe, damaged sensor wiring harness, faulty main control board (PCB)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power by switching off the circuit breaker or unplugging it. Allow the oven to cool completely before working inside the cavity or rear panel.

Steps to check the temperature sensor:

  • Locate the main oven temperature sensor (NTC probe) inside the cavity, usually at the rear upper area secured with 2 screws.
  • Remove the screws and gently pull the sensor tip forward to access the wiring connector from inside or from the rear service panel (depending on model).
  • Disconnect the sensor plug and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. A typical Ilve NTC sensor will read roughly 1–1.1 kΩ at 25°C (check service manual for exact spec).
  • If the reading is open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
  • Inspect the wiring harness from the sensor to the main control board for cuts, burns, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
  • If the sensor and wiring test good, the fault is likely on the main control board and it may need replacement.

Reassembly: Refit the sensor and screws, ensure wiring is not pinched, restore power, and test a low-temperature bake cycle.
