Possible Causes
Open-circuit bake element, open-circuit grill element, burnt wiring to elements, faulty power relay on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power. Verify with a non-contact tester that no voltage is present before touching wiring.
Element and wiring checks:
- Remove the rear panel (or bottom panel inside the cavity, depending on model) to access the bake and grill elements and their terminals.
- Visually inspect for burnt spots, broken element sections, or melted terminals.
- Disconnect one wire from each suspect element and measure resistance across the element terminals. Typical values are 20–60 Ω depending on wattage.
- If the element is open (OL) or shows visible damage, replace it with the correct Ilve part number.
- Inspect the wiring harness from the elements to the main control board; repair or replace any burnt or brittle wires and ensure spade connectors are tight.
- If elements and wiring are good, the heating relay on the main PCB may be defective; look for burnt solder joints or pitted relay contacts (requires board-level skills or board replacement).
Re-test: After reassembly, restore power and test each heating function (bake, grill, fan-forced) individually.
