Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, Jammed door latch, Faulty door lock microswitch, Wiring fault between lock and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: During or after self-clean, internal temperatures can be extremely high. Allow the oven to cool fully and disconnect power before working on the door lock.

  • 1. Allow full cool-down: Wait several hours after a self-clean cycle before attempting any repair.
  • 2. Check for mechanical jam: Inspect the door latch for bent metal or debris. Gently try to move the latch with the oven off; do not force it.
  • 3. Access lock assembly: Remove the top cover or front panel (depending on model) to access the door lock motor and switches. Check wiring and connectors.
  • 4. Test lock motor and switches: With the lock disconnected, measure motor resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Test the lock position microswitches for correct open/closed states. Replace the door lock assembly if faulty.

If the door remains locked with food inside, contact a service technician to avoid damaging the door or glass.
