Possible Causes
Shorted bake or broil element, Pinched wiring harness touching chassis, Damaged terminal block, Faulty control board causing overcurrent
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Leave the breaker off until the fault is identified. Risk of fire or shock exists.
- Inspect elements: With power off, visually inspect the bake and broil elements for cracks or spots where the element may contact the metal cavity.
- Test for shorts: Disconnect element leads and measure resistance from each terminal to the oven chassis. Any low resistance indicates a shorted element that must be replaced.
- Check wiring: Inspect the wiring harness near the elements and terminal block for melted insulation or contact with sharp edges. Repair or replace damaged wires.
- Terminal block: Inspect the terminal block for burnt connections that could cause arcing. Replace if damaged.
- Control board: If all hardware is good, the control board may be misfiring relays and should be evaluated and replaced if necessary.
