Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, Failed electronic oven control board, Moisture or contamination on keypad ribbon, Loose keypad ribbon cable connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing any panels. High voltage is present even when the oven is off.
- Power reset: Turn the oven off at the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F1 returns immediately, suspect the keypad or control board.
- Check for stuck keys: Press each button on the Insignia control panel firmly. If any key feels stuck or unresponsive, the touchpad membrane may be shorted.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the rear control panel cover. Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the electronic oven control (EOC). Reseat the ribbon (unplug and plug back in) and check for corrosion or burns.
- Dry moisture: If the panel shows signs of moisture (from steam), allow it to dry fully (several hours with power off). Avoid using the self-clean cycle until the issue is resolved.
- Replace parts if needed: If F1 persists after reseating and drying, replace the control panel/touchpad assembly or the electronic oven control board as a matched set per your Insignia model’s service manual.
