Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Failed electronic oven control board temperature circuit, Stuck closed bake relay on control board, Poor airflow around oven causing overheating

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Turn off the breaker immediately if the oven is overheating or will not shut off.

  • Cool down: Allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.
  • Check oven sensor resistance: With power off, remove the rear panel or access from inside the cavity (rear wall). Disconnect the oven temperature sensor harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~20–25°C), it should read around 1050–1100 Ω. If it is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the sensor harness from the sensor to the control board for burns, cuts, or loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • Control board check: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the electronic oven control board may have a stuck relay or failed temperature circuit and should be replaced.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the oven has proper clearance and that cabinet vents are not blocked, as poor airflow can contribute to overheating.
