Possible Causes

Open oven temperature sensor, Broken sensor wiring harness, Loose sensor connector at control board, Corroded sensor terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Disconnect power at the breaker before testing or replacing components.

  • Access the sensor: Locate the oven temperature sensor inside the oven cavity (usually on the rear wall, upper corner). Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector.
  • Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, expect ~1050–1100 Ω. If the reading is infinite (open) or extremely high, replace the sensor.
  • Check harness: If the sensor tests good, inspect the wiring harness from the sensor to the control board for breaks, pinched spots, or disconnected plugs. Repair or replace as needed.
  • Control board connector: Remove the rear control panel cover and verify the sensor connector is fully seated on the electronic oven control board. Clean any corrosion and reseat.
  • Replace sensor: If in doubt, replacing the sensor is relatively inexpensive and often resolves F3 on Insignia ovens.
