Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor assembly, Bent or jammed door latch, Faulty door lock switch, Wiring issue between lock and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker. The door lock mechanism can move unexpectedly when power is restored.
- Allow cooling: After self-clean, wait until the oven is completely cool; the lock will not release while the cavity is hot.
- Check for mechanical jam: Inspect the door latch at the front of the oven. Look for bent metal, debris, or misalignment preventing movement.
- Access lock assembly: Remove the top or rear panel (depending on model) to access the door lock motor assembly. Manually move the lock rod to verify it is not seized.
- Test lock motor and switches: With power off, disconnect the lock motor and measure resistance; an open motor coil indicates failure. Check continuity of the lock position switches while manually moving the latch.
- Reset and test: After freeing any jams or replacing the lock assembly, restore power and test a bake cycle (avoid self-clean until you are sure the lock is reliable).
