Oven produces excessive smoke during normal baking (not self-clean).

Safety First: If smoke is heavy, turn off the oven and open windows. Do not open the door fully if flames are present; keep it closed and turn off power.

• Inspect interior: Once cool, remove racks and inspect the oven cavity for heavy grease or food buildup, especially on the bottom panel and near the bake element.
• Clean thoroughly: Use a non-caustic oven cleaner or a baking soda paste to clean spills. Avoid spraying cleaner directly on elements or sensors.
• Avoid foil on bottom: Do not line the oven bottom with foil, as it can trap heat and cause smoking or damage.
• Check temperature: Use an oven thermometer to verify that the oven is not overheating. If it is, troubleshoot the oven temperature sensor and control board.
