Possible Causes

Open (broken) oven temperature sensor, Loose sensor harness connection, Broken wire between sensor and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Shut off power at the breaker before accessing the oven interior or rear panel.

  • Locate sensor: Inside the oven cavity, find the thin metal probe (temperature sensor) usually mounted on the back wall with two screws.
  • Check connections: Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector. Ensure the plug is fully seated and not burnt.
  • Test resistance: With the sensor unplugged and the oven cold, measure resistance across the sensor terminals using a multimeter. A typical JennAir sensor should read around 1050–1100 ohms at room temperature. An infinite or very high reading indicates an open sensor.
  • Inspect harness: If the sensor tests good, check the wiring harness from the sensor connector back to the control board for breaks or burns (access from the rear or top of the oven).
  • Replace faulty part: Replace the oven temperature sensor if open, or repair/replace the damaged harness. Clear the code by cycling power.
