Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Pinched sensor wiring touching chassis, Shorted harness at control board connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power at the breaker before testing.

  • Access sensor: Remove the oven racks and locate the temperature sensor on the rear wall. Remove its screws and gently pull it forward.
  • Measure resistance: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the sensor terminals at room temperature. A reading far below 1000 ohms (or near 0 ohms) indicates a shorted sensor.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires as far as possible. Look for spots where the insulation is melted or pinched against metal, which can cause a short.
  • Check control connector: Access the control board and inspect the sensor connector for corrosion or carbon tracking between pins.
  • Replace or repair: Replace the sensor if shorted. If wiring is damaged, repair with high-temperature wire and proper connectors. Replace the harness if extensively damaged.
