Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD), Failed electronic oven control (EOC) relay, Damaged sensor harness or connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing any panels. High voltage is present even when the oven is off.
- Power reset: Turn the range breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power and test. If F10 returns quickly, continue below.
- Check oven temperature sensor:
- Pull the range forward and unplug it (or switch off breaker).
- Remove the rear panel to access the oven temperature sensor harness (usually a thin probe entering the rear of the oven cavity).
- Disconnect the sensor plug and measure resistance with a multimeter: at room temperature (~70°F / 21°C) it should read about 1050–1100 Ω.
- If reading is far off (open, shorted, or very different from spec), replace the oven temperature sensor (RTD).
- Inspect harness and connector: Check for burnt, loose, or corroded connectors between the sensor and the electronic oven control (EOC). Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Check control board: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC relay may be stuck closed, causing runaway temperature. Inspect the control board for burnt spots or melted relay. Replace the electronic oven control board if defective.
