Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor assembly, Faulty door lock switch, Jammed lock mechanism, Wiring issue between lock assembly and EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. The door lock mechanism can move unexpectedly when power is restored.
- Try a reset: Turn power off for 5 minutes, then back on. Attempt to start and cancel a self-clean cycle to see if the lock resets.
- Access door lock assembly:
- Remove the rear panel (for freestanding ranges) or top panel (for some wall ovens) to access the door lock motor and switches.
- Inspect the lock rod and mechanism for binding, grease buildup, or bent parts. Free any obstructions.
- Test lock motor and switches:
- With power off, disconnect the lock motor harness and check resistance across the motor terminals (typically a few hundred ohms). An open circuit indicates a bad motor.
- Check continuity of the lock and unlock switches while manually moving the lock rod. Replace the assembly if switches do not change state.
- Replace assembly: If the motor or switches are defective, install a new door lock motor and switch assembly, reconnect wiring, and reassemble panels.
- Control board: If the lock assembly tests good but F90 persists, the EOC may not be driving the lock correctly. Replace the electronic oven control if needed.
