Possible Causes
Burned-out bake element, Loose bake element terminals, Failed bake relay on EOC, Broken wiring to bake element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker; heating elements carry high voltage.
- Visual check: Inspect the bake element inside the oven for blisters, cracks, or burn-through spots. Any visible damage means it should be replaced.
- Continuity test:
- Remove the rear panel to access bake element terminals.
- Disconnect wires and measure resistance across the element; typical reading is 15–40 Ω. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Check wiring and terminals: Inspect terminals for burning or looseness. Tighten or replace spade connectors as needed.
- Control output: If the element and wiring are good, the bake relay on the EOC may not be closing. With power on and a bake command set, a qualified person can test for 240 VAC at the element terminals. If no voltage, replace the electronic oven control.
