Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, damaged user interface board, loose or corroded ribbon cable between UI and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Inspect keypad: Check for stuck, cracked, or unresponsive buttons on the control panel.
- Reseat ribbon cable: Remove the control panel, disconnect the flat ribbon cable from the user interface to the control board, clean contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol, and reconnect firmly.
- Check for moisture: Look for signs of moisture or grease intrusion behind the control panel; dry thoroughly if present.
If F1E2 persists: Replace the user interface/touchpad assembly. On some KitchenAid models, the UI and glass panel are a single assembly that must be replaced together.
