Possible Causes
Failed upper oven temperature sensor (RTD), broken sensor wiring, loose sensor connector at control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the oven cavity or rear panel.
- Locate sensor: In most KitchenAid wall ovens, the sensor is a thin metal rod protruding from the rear wall of the oven interior.
- Check connections: Remove the rear panel or pull the oven out to access the sensor connector. Ensure it is fully seated.
- Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~70°F), it should read about 1080–1100 Ω. Infinite or very low resistance indicates a bad sensor.
Fix: Replace the upper oven temperature sensor if readings are out of range or wiring is damaged.
