Possible Causes
Door lock not engaging, Faulty door lock switch, Over-temperature sensor trip, Control board self-clean circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not bypass safety interlocks. Disconnect power before accessing lock components.
- 1. Confirm door closure: Ensure the oven door is fully closed and properly aligned. Check that the gasket is not preventing full closure.
- 2. Listen for lock motor: When starting self-clean, you should hear the door lock motor operate. If silent, the lock motor or its wiring may be faulty.
- 3. Test lock switch: Access the door lock assembly and test the lock switch with a multimeter while manually moving the latch. Replace the lock assembly if the switch does not change state.
- 4. Check error history: Some La Cornue models store fault codes related to over-temperature during self-clean. If the oven previously overheated, the control may inhibit self-clean until the fault is cleared or the sensor is replaced.
- 5. Control board: If the lock mechanism and switches are functional but self-clean still will not initiate, the self-clean control circuit on the main board may be defective and require replacement.
