Oven will not heat, display shows F01 shortly after a heating cycle is started
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the cooker at the wall isolator and turn off power at the consumer unit (breaker) before removing any panels. Allow the oven to cool completely.
- Check for obvious damage: Open the main oven door and locate the temperature sensor probe at the rear of the cavity (usually a thin metal rod held by 1–2 screws). Inspect for physical damage or heavy grease/carbon build-up.
- Clean and reseat: If the probe is heavily soiled, gently clean it with a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth. From the rear of the cooker (after removing the back panel), locate the sensor connector and unplug/replug it several times to clear oxidation.
- Test the sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), measure across the sensor terminals. A typical Leisure NTC sensor should read roughly 500–1100 Ω at room temperature (exact value varies by model). If it reads open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty and must be replaced.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor harness from the cavity to the main control board. Look for burnt, pinched, or broken wires and repair or replace as needed.
- Replace parts as needed: If wiring and sensor test good, the fault is likely on the electronic control board (PCB). Replacement of the PCB is more complex and is best done by a qualified technician.
Do not operate the oven with a bypassed or shorted sensor; this is a fire and burn hazard.
