Possible Causes
Failed variable-speed cooling fan, Faulty fan tachometer feedback, Obstructed fan blades, Control board fan driver failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the fan assembly.
- Access fan: Remove the rear panel to reach the cooling fan motor.
- Check for obstruction: Ensure the fan spins freely by hand and is not blocked by insulation or wiring.
- Test motor and feedback: Some LG fans have a third wire for speed feedback. Check continuity of the motor windings and inspect the feedback wire and connector.
- Replace fan: If the motor is seized or feedback is faulty, replace the cooling fan assembly.
- Control board: If a new fan does not resolve F97, the control board's fan driver circuit may be defective and require replacement.
