Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Stuck relay on control board, Miscalibrated control board, High-limit thermostat bypassed or failed closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker if the oven overheats uncontrollably.
- Test sensor: With power off, measure the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature. Replace if significantly lower than ~1080–1100 Ω or if shorted.
- Control board inspection: Remove the rear panel and inspect the control board for a stuck or welded relay (burn marks). Replace the board if a relay is stuck closed.
- Check calibration: If hardware is good, reduce the oven temperature calibration in settings (e.g., -20°F) and retest.
- High-limit thermostat: Verify the high-limit thermostat is present and wired correctly. Replace if bypassed or defective.
