Oven will not heat, display shows F1 shortly after a cooking program is started.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power by switching off the circuit breaker or unplugging it. Confirm power is off before removing any panels.
Steps to check the temperature sensor (NTC):
- Remove the oven from the cabinet if built-in, following the installation manual to access the rear.
- Locate the main oven temperature sensor (NTC probe) inside the cavity, usually at the rear upper area, secured with 1–2 screws.
- Remove the screws and gently pull the sensor into the cavity to access the connector, or access the connector from the rear service panel.
- Disconnect the sensor from the wiring harness.
- Using a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), measure the sensor at room temperature. A typical NTC for Liebherr ovens should read roughly 500–1200 Ω at 20–25°C (check service documentation for exact value).
- If the reading is infinite (open) or near 0 Ω (shorted), the sensor is defective and must be replaced.
- Inspect the harness from the sensor to the electronic control module (ECM) for cuts, burns, or loose pins at the control board connector.
- Install a new OEM Liebherr oven temperature sensor if faulty, route the cable away from hot surfaces, and secure it with the original clips.
- Reconnect power and test a low-temperature bake cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
When to stop: If the sensor and wiring test good but F1 persists, the electronic control module may be defective and should be diagnosed or replaced by a qualified technician.
