Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the oven and allow it to cool completely. Disconnect power at the breaker before opening any panels.
Basic checks:
- Ensure ventilation slots around the built-in oven are not blocked by cabinetry, foil, or other appliances.
- Check that the cooling fan runs during and after high-temperature cooking; if not, see cooling fan related entries.
Sensor and thermostat check:
- Access the rear of the oven and locate the main temperature sensor and any high-limit safety thermostat (usually clipped to the top of the cavity or rear panel).
- Test the NTC sensor resistance at room temperature with a multimeter; compare to specification. Replace if out of range.
- Check the high-limit thermostat for continuity. If it is open and non-resettable, replace it with the correct Liebherr part.
Control/relay check (advanced):
- With power disconnected, inspect the power board for signs of a welded or burnt heating relay.
- If the relay contacts are stuck closed (heating elements powered even when off), the power board must be replaced.
If you are not comfortable testing live circuits or replacing control boards, contact a qualified technician.
