Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock mechanism, Faulty door lock position switch, Broken wiring between lock and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power. If the door is locked with racks or items inside, allow the oven to cool completely before attempting manual release.

Manual door release (if locked):

  • Consult the user manual for the specific model; many Liebherr ovens have a manual release lever accessible from the top or behind the control panel.
  • Gently operate the lever to release the latch while pulling lightly on the door handle.

Lock assembly inspection:

  • Remove the top cover or front control panel to access the door lock assembly.
  • Check for mechanical obstruction, bent latch parts, or grease buildup; clean and lubricate lightly with high-temperature-safe lubricant if needed.
  • Test the lock motor coil for continuity with a multimeter; an open coil indicates a failed motor.
  • Check the lock position microswitch for proper operation (click and continuity change when actuated).
  • Inspect wiring harness and connectors for damage or loose pins.

If the lock motor or switch is defective, replace the complete door lock assembly with a Liebherr OEM part. Reassemble, restore power, and test a pyrolytic cycle to confirm proper locking and unlocking.
