Possible Causes
Worn mechanical function selector switch, Dirty or oxidized switch contacts, Broken selector knob shaft, Faulty electronic mode encoder
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power before removing the control panel or knobs.
- Check knob and shaft: Ensure the function selector knob is not cracked and is firmly attached to the shaft. Replace the knob if it slips.
- Rotate through all modes: With power off, rotate the selector through all positions several times to clean contacts. Then restore power and test.
- Access selector switch: Remove the control panel to expose the mechanical selector or electronic encoder. Inspect for burnt contacts or broken plastic parts.
- Test continuity: For mechanical switches, use a multimeter to verify that the correct contacts close in each position (refer to wiring diagram if available). Replace the selector switch if readings are inconsistent.
- Replace encoder: If an electronic rotary encoder is used and the display does not track knob movement correctly, replace the encoder module.
