Possible Causes
Grease or food debris behind knobs, Worn plastic knob splines, Slightly bent selector shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing knobs or control panel to avoid accidental activation.
- Remove knobs: Pull the knobs straight off the shafts. Clean both the knobs and the exposed shafts with a mild degreaser.
- Inspect splines: Check the inside of the knobs for cracks or worn splines. Replace any damaged knobs.
- Lubrication: Do not use oil-based lubricants. If necessary, apply a tiny amount of high-temperature-safe silicone grease to the shaft base, avoiding electrical contacts.
- Shaft alignment: If a shaft appears bent, the underlying switch may need replacement to prevent further wear.
