Possible Causes
Particular heating element shorted to earth, Damaged wiring to that element, Moisture inside element sheath, Cracked ceramic insulators
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping RCD. Isolate the oven and confirm there is no burning smell.
- Identify the faulty function: Note which mode causes the trip (grill, fan oven, bottom heat, etc.). This points to the suspect element.
- Test element to earth: Disconnect the suspect element and test between each terminal and chassis with a multimeter. Any continuity indicates earth leakage; replace the element.
- Inspect wiring: Check the wiring from the selector/PCB to the element for insulation damage where it passes near sharp metal or hot areas. Repair or replace as needed.
- Drying: If the oven has been steam-cleaned, allow 24–48 hours of drying with the door open before retesting, as moisture can temporarily cause leakage.
