Possible Causes

Shorted membrane keypad, Failed electronic oven control (EOC) board, Moisture or spill intrusion into control panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the oven off at the wall switch or circuit breaker. Confirm the control panel is completely dead before touching wiring.

  • Power reset: Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F0 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient glitch.
  • Check for stuck keys: With power restored, press each key on the control panel one at a time. If any key feels stuck, spongy, or does not click, the membrane keypad is likely shorted.
  • Inspect for moisture/grease: Remove the control panel bezel (usually a few screws from the back or front). Look for signs of liquid spills or grease on the ribbon cable and keypad area. If lightly contaminated, disconnect power again and gently clean with a dry cloth or isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab. Allow to dry fully before reassembly.
  • Ribbon cable reseat: With power off, unplug the keypad ribbon cable from the electronic oven control (EOC) board, inspect for corrosion or burnt spots, and reseat it firmly.
  • If F0 persists: On most Magic Chef models, the keypad and control panel are one assembly. Replace the control panel / membrane keypad assembly. If the keypad is separate and tests good, replace the electronic oven control (EOC) board.

When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable removing the control panel or working around live wiring, have a qualified appliance technician perform keypad and EOC diagnostics.
