Magic Chef oven shows F2 error, often when baking or broiling; oven may shut off and lock out further heating.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.

Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the oven seems excessively hot or smoke is present, turn off the breaker and allow the unit to cool completely before inspection.
- Allow to cool: Let the oven cool for at least 30–60 minutes. Restore power and see if the error clears.
- Check temperature sensor: With power off, remove the rear panel or access from inside the oven to reach the sensor probe. Disconnect and measure resistance at room temperature (around 1050–1100 Ω). If readings are far off spec or intermittent when you gently wiggle the wires, replace the sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the EOC for burnt, brittle, or loose connections. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Check for blocked vents: Ensure the oven’s top and rear vents are not blocked by foil, pans, or cabinetry modifications. Overheating around the control area can trigger F2.
- Replace EOC if necessary: If the sensor and wiring are good, the EOC’s bake or broil relay may be stuck closed, causing runaway heat. Replace the electronic oven control board.
When to call a technician: If you suspect a stuck relay or cannot access the rear of the oven safely, professional service is recommended.
