Magic Chef
Temperature calibration or sensor drift
Oven temperature is consistently too hot or too cold compared to the set temperature on a Magic Chef oven.

Possible Causes
Aging oven temperature sensor, Miscalibrated EOC, Poor rack placement or airflow, Door gasket leaks causing heat loss
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use an accurate oven thermometer to verify temperature; avoid touching hot surfaces.
- Verify with thermometer: Place an oven thermometer in the center of the middle rack. Preheat to 350°F and check after 15–20 minutes. Note the difference between set and actual temperature.
- Adjust calibration: Many Magic Chef EOCs allow temperature offset adjustment (e.g., ±35°F). Refer to your manual to enter calibration mode and adjust up or down based on your thermometer readings.
- Inspect sensor: If the offset required is large (>35°F), test the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature. Replace if out of spec.
- Check door gasket: Inspect the door gasket for gaps, tears, or flattening. Replace if it does not seal evenly.
When to call a technician: If calibration and sensor replacement do not correct the issue, the EOC may need replacement.
