Possible Causes
Shorted or stuck keypad, damaged touch membrane, loose keypad ribbon cable, failed user interface board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
- Inspect keypad: Check if any buttons are physically stuck or do not click. Clean the surface with a mild cleaner and soft cloth (no excessive moisture).
- Access control panel: Remove the screws securing the control panel or console. Carefully tilt it forward to access the keypad ribbon cable.
- Reseat ribbon cable: Disconnect the keypad ribbon from the control board, inspect for corrosion or cracks, then reconnect firmly.
- Test operation: Restore power and test all keys. If F1-5 returns or some keys do not respond, the keypad/touch panel is likely defective.
- Replace keypad/UI: Order the correct Maytag touch panel or user interface assembly by model number. Transfer any brackets or trim from the old panel to the new one and reconnect the ribbon cable securely.
