Possible Causes
Failed EOC, shorted keypad, power surge damage, internal control board fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 5–10 minutes, then back ON. If F7-1 returns immediately, the control or keypad is likely defective.
- Inspect control board: Remove the rear cover of the control console. Look for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or corrosion.
- Check keypad ribbon: Reseat the keypad ribbon cable. If the keypad is separate from the EOC, try disconnecting the keypad and powering up; if the code changes or clears, the keypad is suspect.
- Replace faulty module: Replace the EOC or keypad/user interface assembly as indicated by your tests. Use the exact part number for your Maytag model.
