Possible Causes

Open upper heating element, Burnt wiring to grill element, Faulty relay on main control board, Overheated and tripped thermal cutout in upper cavity

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and verify the oven is cool.

Check the upper heating element:

  • Visually inspect the upper/grill element inside the oven for breaks, blisters, or burn marks.
  • Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the element forward to access the terminals.
  • Disconnect the wires (note their positions) and test the element for continuity with a multimeter. An open reading indicates a failed element.
  • Replace the element if open or visibly damaged.

Inspect wiring and safety devices:

  • Remove the rear panel and inspect the wiring from the main control board to the upper element.
  • Look for burnt connectors or overheated insulation and repair as needed.
  • Check any inline thermal cutouts or thermostats in the upper circuit for continuity.

If the element and wiring are good, the main control board relay controlling the upper element may be faulty and require replacement.
