Oven will not heat; display and lights work but cavity remains cold in all modes.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power by switching off the circuit breaker or unplugging. Verify no power is present before removing any panels.
- Check power supply: Confirm the correct voltage is present at the wall outlet or junction box. A missing phase on a 240V supply can cause no heat.
- Inspect heating elements: Remove the rear panel (built-in ovens) or inner back cover. Visually inspect the top grill element and bottom bake element for breaks, blisters, or burn marks. Test each element with a multimeter; typical resistance is 20–60 Ω. Replace any open element.
- Check temperature limiter: Locate the high-limit thermostat/temperature limiter on the top of the oven cavity or rear panel. Test for continuity at room temperature. If open and not resettable, replace it.
- Inspect wiring and connectors: Look for burnt spade terminals or loose connections at the elements, temperature limiter, and main terminal block. Clean and tighten or replace damaged connectors.
- Control board relays: If elements and limiter test good, the power relay on the electronic control module may be faulty. Visual signs include burnt spots or pitted relay contacts. Replacement of the control module is usually required and is best done by a qualified technician.
If you are not comfortable working with high-voltage circuits, contact an authorized Miele service technician.
