Possible Causes
Open-circuit grill element, Burnt wiring to grill, Faulty grill relay on control board, Overheat limiter for grill tripped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Grill elements operate at high temperature and voltage.
- Visual inspection: Inspect the top grill element for visible breaks, sagging, or burn marks.
- Continuity test: Access the grill element terminals from the rear or top of the oven. Disconnect the wires and measure resistance. An infinite reading indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Check wiring: Inspect the high-temperature wiring from the control board to the grill element. Replace any burnt or brittle wires with high-temp rated cable.
- Limiter check: Some models have a separate limiter for the grill area. Test for continuity and replace if open.
If the grill element and wiring are good but the grill never energizes, the control board relay is likely faulty and requires replacement.
