Possible Causes
Mechanical jam in door lock, Failed lock motor left in locked position, Control software not releasing lock after pyrolytic cycle, Warped door latch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the oven has cooled to room temperature. Disconnect power before attempting manual release.
- Wait for cooling: Some models keep the door locked until the cavity is below a safe temperature. Allow extra time and see if the lock releases automatically.
- Power reset: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore. Sometimes the control will reinitialize and release the lock.
- Manual release: Remove the top cover of the oven (with power off) to access the door lock mechanism. Many Miele locks have a manual release lever that can be moved to unlock the door. Consult the service manual if available.
- Inspect and replace lock: Once open, inspect the lock assembly for broken parts or signs of overheating. Replace the door lock assembly if it does not operate smoothly.
If you cannot safely access the lock, contact Miele service to avoid damaging the door or frame.
