Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display and main board, Oxidised or contaminated connectors, Failed touch control PCB, Main control board communication circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains before removing the control panel.
Steps:
- Remove control panel: On most Morphy Richards ovens, remove the knobs (if present) and screws securing the front fascia to access the display/touch PCB.
- Inspect ribbon cables: Carefully disconnect and inspect the flat ribbon cable between the display/touch PCB and the main control board. Look for kinks, cracks, or corrosion.
- Clean connectors: Use electrical contact cleaner and a lint-free cloth to clean the connector contacts. Reseat the cable firmly, ensuring it is fully inserted and locked.
- Check for moisture: Steam can enter the control area. If you see condensation or corrosion, allow the panel to dry thoroughly and consider improving ventilation.
- Replace faulty PCB: If E6 persists after reseating cables, replace the touch control PCB or the main control board as indicated by the service manual diagnostics.
Note: Avoid using excessive water or cleaners on the control panel to prevent future moisture ingress.
