Possible Causes
Failed convection (circulation) fan motor, Seized fan due to grease build-up, Broken fan blade, Wiring fault between fan motor and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the mains. Fan blades can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
Diagnosis:
- Access the fan: Remove the rear inner panel of the oven cavity to expose the convection fan and cover plate. Check for heavy grease or food debris obstructing the fan.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, the convection fan motor is likely failing.
- Check wiring: From the rear of the oven, locate the fan motor terminals. Inspect for burnt connectors or damaged insulation.
- Measure resistance: With the motor disconnected, measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Replace motor: Remove the fan blade retaining nut (usually reverse thread) and the screws securing the motor from the rear. Fit a new convection fan motor and reassemble.
Tip: Clean the fan and rear panel regularly to prevent imbalance and premature motor wear.
