Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor reading low, Stuck relay on control board, Faulty mechanical thermostat (on analogue models), Door seal missing causing sensor misreading
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power immediately if smoke or burning smell is present.
Steps:
- Check with thermometer: Use an oven thermometer to confirm that the oven is exceeding the set temperature.
- Inspect sensor: Test the oven temperature sensor resistance. Replace if it reads significantly lower than spec at room temperature.
- Mechanical thermostat: On knob-controlled models, the thermostat capillary bulb should be securely clipped inside the cavity. If damaged or dislodged, replace the oven thermostat.
- Control board: If the heating relay remains energised even when the set temperature is reached, the electronic control board may have a stuck relay and should be replaced.
Warning: Do not continue using an oven that overheats; this is a fire risk.
